GENEVA HAMILTON

Oct. 21, 1928 - July 12, 2007

Geneva Winthrop Hamilton, 78, of Lufkin, was born October 21, 1928, in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Fannie Mae (Smith) and Archie Hue Winthrop. She passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2007, in a Lufkin hospital.

Services for Mrs. Hamilton were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment followed in the Walker Cemetery.

Mrs. Hamilton had been a waitress at Lufkin Bar-B-Q for more than 10 years. She was also a homemaker and a beloved mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Hamilton had lived in the Lufkin area all her life. She loved to read books and work puzzles. She was a "people" person who never met a stranger, and her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Mrs. Hamilton attended the Salvation Army Church.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Bobby Short, Mareta and Phillip Bennett, Kenneth Short, Billy and Nancy Reppond, and Ted and Brenda Reppond, all of Lufkin; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Connie Wilkerson and Wanda Dennis, both of Lufkin; brother, Arthur Winthrop of Lufkin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Geneva in death were a number of sisters and brothers.

Pallbearers were Cedric Spears, Eric Ferguson, Eric Winthrop, Steve Bennett, Jason Dixon and Jason Jackson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
