Carrie is "on call" at Vince Treadwell's Edward Jones office. She is finishing her degree to teach on line from Stephen F. Austin. This way she can work at home with the babies that were born premature October 22.
Tom and Barb Flournoy, extended family and friends feted Jordan Flournoy with a surprise party on Saturday, July 21. The party celebrated Jordan's graduation from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY (Jordan did not attend his graduation ceremonies, so this was his celebration) and Jordan's 21st birthday, a milestone that he is about to reach. It also was a "going away" party, a chance for everyone to say good-bye to Jordan before he leaves in a few weeks for Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he will be a student at the University of Michigan Law School. The party was held at PineCrest Retirement Community so the residents there could attend. Jordan has ministered in music and friendship at PineCrest since he was 11 years old and is considered an "adopted grandchild" by the residents. Jordan was asked to share his music during the party, so he played a classical hymn arrangement of "I'd Rather Have Jesus" on the piano and sang "Lord, Here Am I" acappella with fellow homeschoolers, members of the Tom Rach family, of Hemphill, TX. Friends and family, including Jordan's current boss, attorney Reese Andrews and Reese's wife, Carolyn, from Nacogdoches, shared humorous anecdotes about Jordan. Each then gave Jordan a scripture and a blessing to take with him to Michigan. Jordan's sister, Kristen Hay, made one of her fabulous decorated gourmet cakes for the occasion. She was there with hubby Kyle and children Caleb, Morgan, and Scarlett. Jordan's other sister, Nicole Ellis with her husband Chris and children Preston, Chandler, Hudson, and Adeline, were in from Round Rock for the celebration. Uncle Jordan is a hands-down favorite of his 13 nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his many wonderful friends and his big extended family.
Among the oldest law schools in the country, the University of Michigan Law School was patterned after Cambridge and Oxford. Jordan will reside in the Lawyer's Club, an almost century old Gothic style stone building with private rooms, a lovely historic living room with hand-carved walls, and a huge dining room. He will attend classes in a stone building, which, at first glance, Jordan thought was a historic cathedral. It's just across the lawn from the Lawyer's Club in what is known as the Law Quad. Bon voyage, Jordan!!!!
Martha and Ray Carswell entertained granddaughter Emma, who is three and a half, and Abby, who is a year and a half, for several days. They recommend the Chamber Park water pad. They spent two days there. The Ellen Trout Zoo and the train were also on their schedule.
Frances Atkinson had daughter Marijo and Rick Meredith in town in their motor home, and we saw them eating with Rick's mother Delle Meredith. I bet Marijo was here to celebrate her birthday.
Llewellyn Frazier had foot surgery due to her feet like her mother Tennie Little. I have feet like my mother and sympathize with her.
Franklin Weeks called remembering my daddy teaching agriculture at Stephen F. Austin when he was there. Certain things bring back good memories.
Patricia Clements Schoen, of St Louis, was in town visiting friends and came to see the Hall of Honor at LHS with Wydette Barrett. Her family lived in the house were J.P. and Darrel McDonald live.
Clarkie and Wayne Brown had granddaughter Angie and Alan Robinson and their 2-year-old daughter Emma Grace come through Lufkin on their way from Round Rock to Lafayette, Louisiana. They spent two hours and had food from Lufkin Bar B Q with Wayne and Clarkie. Wayne was impressed with their well-mannered German shepherd dog "Charlie" that was traveling with them. Barbara and David McGaughey are Angie's parents, and they are in Louisiana.

Carol and Jim Riggs were in Scotland for July 4 to celebrate her son Robert and Heather Lewis' 10 th wedding anniversary. Heather is a native born Scot. Their daughters are Daisy, who is 7, and Jura, who is 4. Jim sent cute pictures of Robert and Heather and the US and Texas flags and the granddaughters. Robert is a lead programmer for a company providing medical software for cardiac monitoring. Their home is in Cramond a village in the Edinburgh outskirts. Cramond's origins date back nearly two thousand years. When the Romans invaded Scotland for the second time in AD139, they stopped at a line between the Forth and the Clyde and built the Antonine Wall. In about AD142, they built a fort at Cramond to protect the southern shore of the Forth, east of the end of the wall, and to act as a supply port for the Roman Army in Scotland. Ruins of this Roman occupation remain there today. Robert is a UT grad with degrees in Plan II and Mathematics.
