Diboll police officers investigate a rash of auto burglaries

Diboll police officers have been called to six different automobile burglaries, all located in the Deer Trace Subdivision in the city, within the last two weeks.

Detective Branden Lovell of the Diboll Police Department said, "Beginning July 18 and continuing through August 27, 2007, our department has been notified by residents of property being stolen from vehicles parked at their homes. Numerous items including radios, money, purses and a cell phone have been reported missing."

Lovell urges all residents of Diboll to secure their vehicles by locking them, regardless of where they are parked, and remove as many valuable items. "We realize that even a locked vehicle is no obstacle for some thieves, but leaving valuables in plain sight only serves as motivation for them to want in". Lovell said.

Citizens of Diboll are encouraged to report suspicious activities or persons in or near their homes.

If you have information about these crimes, you are encouraged to call the Diboll Police Department at 829-5586 or Crimestoppers at 639-TIPS. If the information you provide leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment, you could be eligible to receive up to $1,000. Your call, as always, is confidential and you do not need to leave your name.
