Joyce Samford Horn, 90, of Lufkin, was born January 13, 1917, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, the daughter of the late Ether (Pullen) and R.L. Samford. She passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in a Lufkin hospital.
Graveside services for Mrs. Horn were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2007, in the Knight Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Robinson officiating.
Mrs. Horn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she had been employed as a secretary. Mrs. Horn enjoyed gardening and weekend trips with her family, and was a member of Burke United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell (Mitch) Horn, on October 22, 1997; her brother, Emmett Samford; and sisters, Novice Samford and Maudelle Lott.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Horn, Thomas Horn and Don Horn, all of Lufkin; six grandchildren, Laurie Cobb, Rodney Horn, Latitia Horn, Mitchell Horn, Amy Little and Mandy Wheeler; six great grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Punk) Samford of Deer Park and Larry Samford of Wichita, Kansas; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
