L'Ida Lee Zeleskey was flying for six days as a Continental flight attendant to Washington D. C., New York City, Puerto Vallerta and Cozumel, Mexico. On the New York flight, she saw Robin Mercer's name and asked her if she lived on the fourth green at Crown Colony? L'Ida Lee told her that she played golf and went by her house all the time. L'Ida Lee has played with Hannah Arnold and said that she is a top golfer.
Georgia Zeleskey's niece and also Syll Holt's niece, Neeraja Lockart, daughter of Amy Spencer Lockart, is one of the contestants on the "Design Star Show" on Sunday nights on HGTV. Spending a week at Camp Cho-Yeh in Livingston were: Amy and Abby Yates, Anna Perkins and Rachel Inselmann. School will be starting and parents are getting uniforms for those in elementary school. I learned that they can not wear "logo" polo type shirts or red or black shirts. Amy Yates said that this year in the 9 th grade will be her first year to not have to wear uniforms, and she wants to wear "sweats and flip flops". Rumor is next year high school will require uniforms.
Bob Poland called me for his daughter Joy Dell Prendergast's DAR number, and then I had a good visit with Joy Dell. She and Don's three are now students at Texas A&M. Natalie, 21, has been appointed to an internship in the Department of Defense at the Pentagon for this coming fall semester. She will take her LSAT in September, and then graduate in May and continue on to law school somewhere next fall. She is a first-degree black belt and has taken the gold medal for the last two years at Collegiate Nationals for Taekwondo, so they will not worry too much about her well being! She and Kelly are both on the Honors Student Council there too. When Joy Dell worked for Lufkin Industries, she worked out of the Denver office in the early 1980's, and during that time, her mom, Adelle Poland, bought quite a few business suits for her from LaNita's in Lufkin. These suits were very tailored, professional, and timeless. When she traded in her briefcase for a diaper bag in the late 1980's, she packed away the wool suits. Last week when Natalie mentioned that she needed some suits for Washington, Joy Dell immediately thought about those 25 year-old-suits that were packed away. The look on her face when Joy Dell mentioned them was priceless. You could tell she wanted to be polite, but at the same time you could see the "uh-oh" in her eyes! She tried them on, and they fit perfectly, and they are truly tailored and timeless! She was so excited about the money she is saving by not having to buy a whole new wardrobe. Thanks to LaNita's and Adelle. Kelly, 19, will be starting her sophomore year at A&M this fall. She plays the trumpet in the Hullabaloo Band and traveled with the basketball team all over the nation during the March Madness Playoffs. In January, she ran the Houston Marathon, and in February she ran the Austin Marathon, then cut 24" of her hair for Locks of Love (a program which makes hairpieces for cancer patients). She is a biomedical science major, and she does research for the food toxicology department at A&M. She has also ridden in the MS-150 for the past seven years, and she plans on making this next spring her eighth year. Then she plans on riding from New York to Seattle on her bicycle next summer with the Habitat for Humanity Organization. She studied in Spain on a scholarship and is fluent in Spanish. She never sleeps, so if she decides to go to medical school along the way, this would be a great "talent" to have! She finds her parents' life VERY boring when she comes home! Robert, 18, will be starting his freshman year at A&M this fall. Since he was 12 years old, he buys, rebuilds, and trades cars and motorcycles for a hobby. He bought a blue 1979 Corvette last fall, and after rebuilding it, he didn't quite get the response he expected. When asked what he meant, he said "I thought it would turn some girls' heads, but the only heads it turns are 50-year-old men!" His plans were to go to summer school immediately after high school graduation in May. However, after one week of summer school in Aggieland, he had a collapsed lung and ended up in the hospital there for two weeks! He has fully recovered, thank goodness, and is packed and ready to go to fish camp next week! He sold his vet for a nice profit and bought a maroon pickup for college. He is a 1st degree black belt also in Taekwondo and has ridden the MS-150 for 5 years. He plans on joining the A&M cycling team, and his major is engineering so he will have his nose to the grind stone! Joy Dell said that "She and Don are doing great. Thank you again for all of the prayers you sent our way when I was battling cancer. All's well in that department, a true miracle. When I went back for my checkup, my doctor said she couldn't explain my outstanding recovery, and I told her I could enlighten her. It was called faith and support from family, friends, and people I didn't even know from all over the world!"

Carolyn and Stanley New attended the graduation of son Eliot New from Baylor Law School in Waco on July 28. Others attending were: Hilary and Jason Howard with Cora, and Tamesha Jumper. He has taken the bar and will learn the results in November. Eliot has a job with the law firm of Germer Gertz in Beaumont. They enjoyed an after graduation celebration for lunch at Yannie's Restaurant, which serves Greek food family style. Carolyn and Stanley have granddaughter Cora and the Howard's dogs Maddie and Coco while they are on vacation in the Napa Valley. Cora enjoyed the ocean water at Pirates Beach with her grandparents and parents, Hilary and Jason, for three days.
Also graduating from Baylor Law School was Eric Studer, son of Dr. John and Bridget Studer. His sisters Eva and Hana and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Studer also attended. Dr. John Studer bought the orthodontist practice from Dr. Charles Kent in April of 2002. Some of you with children know him, and I guess I am going to have to find an opportunity to meet him too.
There were two students that graduated from Baylor Law School from Huntington on Saturday. Keith Gee, son of Charyse and Gary Gee, has his masters in business and will be interviewing with law firms. Loren Reynolds, daughter of Bruce and Janet Reynolds, received her law degree and will be marrying Joshua Lowe on August 11. He is in SMU Law School and Loren has a job working in Dallas. Dr. Studer said that from the class of 38 in the law school, Angelina County had four to graduate. I feel that is a big compliment to our schools. We are proud of these students.

Bob and Tony Brown met Tana and Greg Weiss and Grayson, who is 10, and Griffin, who is 7, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stayed at a cabin on a creek. Martha Bates had been their "chamber of commerce info center" and told them where to eat and shop and the tourist things to do. They drove to Cades Cove, Greg played golf and "Bob Bob" and the boys hiked and played in the cold water. On the way up, the Weisses toured Graceland in Memphis and stayed at the Peabody Hotel to see the ducks come down from their penthouse to swim in the fountain. Bob and Tony made the trip over to Asheville, North Carolina to see the Biltmore Estate.
