TOMMY ARD

Aug. 24, 1940 - Aug. 5, 2007

Tommy R. Ard, 66, of Diboll, was born August 24, 1940, in Rockland, Tyler County, Texas. He was the son of Erma DuBose Ard and the late Cary Ard. He passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007, in a Houston hospital.

Services for Tommy will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kevin Poage and Reverend Clayton McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.

Tommy was a retired maintenance supervisor for Citation (Texas Foundry), where he was employed for 34 years. He graduated from Van Horn High School. Tommy loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He and his brother-in-law, G.B., were affectionately known as "Bert and Ernie", as they were avid fans of the Diboll Lumberjack basketball and football teams, attending every game and always yelling the loudest! He was a loving and caring husband, father and friend - especially proud of being an Aggie Dad, and spending time with his daughter, Allison. Tommy was a member of Clawson Assembly of God.
