MARVIN KENNEDY

May 20, 1925 - Aug. 2, 2007

Marvin Lee (M.L.) Kennedy, 82, of Lufkin, was born May 20, 1925, in Timpson, Texas, the son of the late Bert Lee Kennedy and Etta Gibbs Kennedy, and went to be with the Lord on Aug. 2, 2007.

Services for Mr. Kennedy were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Keith Woolf officiating. Graveside services followed at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mt. Bethel Cemetery in Gary.

Mr. Kennedy was retired from Gooch Packing Company in Abilene, and was a sales representative for the East Texas area. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Mr. Kennedy was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, and will be missed by all that knew him. He was a hard worker, was devoted to taking care of his family, and loved spending time at the lake house on Toledo Bend.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Kathryn Kennedy of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Gaylon McClendon of Lufkin and Kathy and Herb Chatman of Nacogdoches; daughter, Barbara Miller of Lufkin; sons, Kenneth Kennedy, Paul Kennedy, Lee Kennedy and Alan Kennedy; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members and friends.

Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mayron Kennedy; and twin sisters, Florine and Earline.

Pallbearers will be David Massingill, Daniel Massingill, Paul Massingill, Matt Miller, Gaylon McClendon and Herb Chatman. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Havard, G. W. Hawkins and Thurman Teer.
