STERLING KROUT

Apr. 25, 1929 - Aug. 1, 2007

Sterling Krout, 78, of Lufkin, was born April 25, 1929, in Stafford, Oklahoma. He passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at his residence.

Graveside services for Mr. Krout were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007, in the Gann Cemetery, with Bro. Joe Carriere and Bro. Bill Thompson officiating.

Mr. Krout was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from Temple-Inland, following 19 years of employment, and had resided in the Lufkin area since 1963. Mr. Krout served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, from 1947 to 1957. He enjoyed being outdoors, was an avid fisherman, and loved his chickens.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Charles Rector of Zavalla and Jackie and Bill Phillips of Sacramento, California; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; sister, Doris Sneler of Merced, California; brother, Butch Krout of West Virginia; and a number of other family members. Mr. Krout was preceded in death by parents, Anna Belle (Combs) and Ovid W. Krout; his wife, Frances W. Krout; and two brothers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Rector, Sidney Rector, Robert Rector, James T. Rector, Jeremy Atkinson, Wesley C. Rector, James E. Rector, Ricky White, Timothy Phillips and Kevin Phillips.
