Mass of the Christian Burial for Belen Ibarra, 97, of Lufkin, was celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2007, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Diboll, with Father Victor Harmon officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Haven Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday evening in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Ibarra was born June 10, 1910, in Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of the late DeGloria (Benegas) and Tomas Ibarra. She passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007, in a local hospital. Mrs. Ibarra was a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Luciano and Julia Escobedo and Jose Antonio and Luz Escobedo, all of Lufkin; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Teofilo Carrillo, Refujio Escobedo, Luciano Escobedo, Santos Escobedo, Jairo Escobedo and Juan Luna.
