MARY L. VINSON

Aug. 31, 1922 - Sept. 2, 2007

Mary Lou Vinson, 85, of Pollok, was born August 31, 1922, in Wells, Texas, the daughter of the late Edna Lucy (Chandler) and J. E. Hodges. She passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Vinson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and had worked at Memorial Medical Center of East Texas, Woodland Height Medical Center and Wells Nursing Home, prior to her retirement. She was also a foster grandparent for the Lufkin State School and Wells School District for more than 10 years. Mrs. Vinson loved to read, enjoyed quilting and growing flowers. She was a member of Pollok Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Beverly Vinson, Robert and Cathy Vinson and Albert and Susie Vinson, all of Pollok; daughter, Martha McMillon of Pollok; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Charles Brooks of Dayton and Wanda and Bobby Greenville of Pollok; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, James E. (Bojay) Hodges, Charles Wayne Hodges and W. C. (Bud) Hodges, all of Wells; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. Mrs. Vinson was preceded in death by her husband, John Preston Vinson; sisters, Edna Loraine (Babe) Goodwin and Barbara Sue Church; and son-in-law, Morris McMillon.

Services for Mrs. Vinson weree held September 4, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Joe Carriere and Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
