FELTON BURT

Dec. 24, 1033 - Sept. 9, 2007

Memorial services for Felton Burt, 73, of Diboll, will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 4 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend C. G. "Buster" Grigg officiating. Private interment will be held prior to the services in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Burt, a resident of Diboll for the past 30 years, was born December 24, 1933 in Crossett, AR, to Estelle McGehee Burt and Ernest Bertrum Burt. He died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Burt attended the University of Arkansas, Monticello, and Northwestern University, Louisiana, and served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Burt retired from First Bank & Trust East Texas, whre he served as Executive Vice President.

Mr. Burt was a longtime member of the Southwest Football Umpires Association. He had served on the boards of the Salvation Army, Matherine Sage Day Care Center, Temple Memorial Library and the Boys and Girls Club of America. He also served as Diboll Booster Club President and Rotary Club President. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award, the Rotary Distringuished Club Citation Award and the Diboll Booster Club "Citizen of the Year" award. Mr. Burt was a member of the First Baptist Church of Diboll.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Peggy Bays Burt of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Maria Burt of Hudson; daughter, Jan Rasco of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Joel and John Rasco and Melissa, Paul and Andy Burt; sisters, Elsie Bailey of Crossett, AR and Norma Cox of Minden, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Dr. Tom Kleinpeter of Thibodeaux, LA; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dr. John Sullins of Bella Vista, AR.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Alan Burt; parents, Estelle and Ernest Burt; four brothers; and one sister.
