Wayne Haglund has purchased the A.L. Boynton-Charles Kent house on Kerr Street. I remembered it being owned by the Roscoe Perry's and called Ruth Grant to confirm that at one time it was called "the Roscoe Perry Home". Dr. John Studer is building his new dental office on the corner of Largent and Old Union Road and will be moving next year. Wayne will open his law office summer of 2008. Jacquelyn Jeffrey Block has been working with Wayne and Lisa to determine the architectural history of the house and to advise them on modifications as they make the change from dental office to law office. Pat and Jim Massingill enjoyed a fantastic 15 day bus tour of Europe. The itinerary offered a potpourri of seven countries and major cities. They flew from Houston to Amsterdam and met the tour group at the airport and spent some time in Amsterdam area and other parts of Holland, then went to Belgium, Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, Switzerland and France, flying home from Paris. A very emotional experience was in Belgium, when they visited the WWII Margraten Military Cemetery where over 8,000 US soldiers are buried. It was the day before Memorial Day when they were there, and the local towns people still pay respect by bringing huge amounts of fresh flowers to the cemetery and placing them on the graves. The Massingills were moved and impressed with the many old castles, beautiful cathedrals, breathtaking scenery, and just all things "OLD" in Europe. Jim broke out with the shingles in Switzerland and had to see a doctor in Lucerne, which was the only bad part of a really great trip.
Barb and Tom Flournoy watched the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game to see if they could see Jordan. He had another cheap seat and was shown on the TV last week when the camera zoomed in on him for about five seconds and later showed him with four friends. Folks from around the U.S. saw him on the tube and have corresponded with him. Barb says that he was one of 109,000 people at the game and yet he was a solo face for a moment in time.
