A native Texan, Duane was born on the 2nd of December 1952 to the late Cecil Odell Shaw of Vidor, Texas and Joann Partin Conger, residing in Hudson, Texas, and passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 in a local hospital.
Duane was raised by his loving grandparents, the late Marvin and Lillie Partin, first in Lufkin and then in Abilene, where the family moved so he and his sister and brother could receive a Christian education. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Duane graduated with honors from Stephen F. Austin State University. He later received his law degree from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio, and began his law profession with the goal of providing thoughtful and sincere assistance to those in need, many who found themselves in situations where there was no one else to turn to. Duane's passions were his beloved children, his family, his professional life, and nurturing the many friendships he developed along the way. He was known for his caring heart and strong work ethics, and continued to practice law even as his health was failing.
