2007 fundraising effort gets underway in Angelina County
The United Way Organization of Angelina County kicked off its 2007 fundraising campaign on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, celebrating 60 years of service and dedication.
United Way is one of America's largest charities, providing funding to over 23 of Angelina County's non-profit organizations.
Volunteers and organizers of the kick-off filled the room with warm smiles, offering hugs to long time fundraising friends and members. Participants were greeted at the door by Tina Alexander-Sellers (President of United Way of Angelina County), then a moment of prayer led by Royce Garrett set the tone for speaker Ronnie Robinson. Mr. Robinson gave a compelling motivational speech regarding the need for an organization like the United Way and how funding will be available for agencies including child advocacy programs, food pantries and shelters.
United Way of Angelina County has aimed their goal at raising $650,000 with $100,00 of that amount allocated to benefit several organizations in Diboll. Volunteers will be collecting donations during the month of October in hopes of reaching their goal amount.
Anyone who is interested in donating or becoming a volunteer can do so by calling the United Way of Angelina County at (936) 632-3203 or email them at: united-way@consolidated.net.
