Richard Albert Thompson, 34, was born January 20, 1973, in Angelina County, the fifth child of Bill and Mary Ann Thompson, never leaving their side until his death on September 24, 2007.
Services for Richard were held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2007, in the Faith Family Church, with Bro. Vic Bass and Bro. Jerry Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
He lived his life in Diboll, graduated from Diboll High School in 1991, and went on to become a police office for the Diboll Police Department. After many years with Diboll P.D., his love for adventure, travel and the woods led him, just recently, to purchase and drive his own log truck. Richard loved, with great passion, the outdoors and his annual trips to Colorado with his family and friends. He also loved to ride horses, and enjoyed nature. Richard touched the lives of many young people in the community and was a positive influence for those he met and mentored. His heart was as big as the man he was. His jolly disposition and laughter will never be forgotten. All who knew and loved him will surely miss his love and kindness. Richard is survived by his parents, L.G. (Bill) and Mary Ann Thompson of Diboll; brother and sister-in-law, Louy Garland and Rhonda Thompson of Diboll; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Dennis Rodrigues of Nacogdoches; brother and fiancé, Alton Thompson and Keila Vazquez of Diboll; sister, Ramona Ferguson of Diboll; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. His grandparents, Louy Jewel and Mary Elma Thompson and Elmer and Leona Rast, preceded Richard in death.
Pallbearers were Bruce Thompson, Pete Thompson, Jewel Ellison Jr., Jerry Ellison Jr., Myrton Thompson, Melvin Ray Thompson, William (Bubba) Thompson and Felix Estrada.
Honorary pallbearers will be Delbert Reynolds, Melvin Oliver, David Moreno and Mickey Reyes.
