The Diboll Lumberjack Express rolled again last Friday night as they tamed the Splendora Wildcats 48-06 and remain undefeated with a perfect 5-0 mark.
As usual, the two main cogs in the Jacks machine were once again running back Ketaraus Stanton and quarterback Jacolby Spencer. The dynamic duo teamed up to amass a tremendous total of offense with 342 yards rushing and passing and five TD's.
The Jacks' fumbled the opening kickoff and Splendora recovered on the Lumberjack 44-yard line, but the defense took over and forced the Wildcats to punt.
Following the punt, the Jacks took over own their 15 yard line with Spencer engineered a drive- that covered 85 yards in 13 plays, culminating with a 1-yard pass to Cornelius Polk. Alex Castillo followed with the PAT to give Diboll a 7-0 lead they never relinquished.
Still in the first quarter, the Jacks scored again on a Spencer to J.J. Hayes TD pass for 32 yards.
Starting the second quarter-after a Wildcat punt, Diboll took over on the Splendora 42. Spencer promptly fired a 42-yard TD pass to Polk for his second touchdown of the night. The 2-point conversion attempt was no good.
After another Wildcat 3 and out and punt, the Lumberjacks took over on their 16-yard line. From there Stanton broke loose on a 84 yard gallop up the middle. A Spencer to Castillo pass accounted for the 2-point conversion, to make the score 27-0 Diboll.
Josh Odom intercepted a Wildcat pass and back-up quarterback Kyle Prescott came on to direct a 70-yard 8-play drive. Prescott threw a 20-yard TD pass to Hayes. Castillo's kick was good to give the Lumberjacks a 34-0 halftime lead.
Following the intermission, Spencer returned to the game, to throw his fourth TD pass of the night to Castillo for 41-yards Castillo followed with the P.A.T.
Kendal Jackson scored the last touchdown of the night with a 7-yard run and Castillo kicked the extra point. Jackson finished the game with 107 yards rushing on 17 carries.
The Wildcats avoided a shutout when linebacker Josh Connell picked up a fumble and returned it 45-yards to put the Cats on the board. The extra point try was no good making the final scored 48-6 Lumberjacks.
On defense, Adrian Vasquez had a great night making several tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery.
