Led by their 'all everything' running back Ketaraus Stanton, the Diboll Lumberjacks rolled over the Rusk Eagles, 62-0 during a homecoming performance that will be talked about for quite some time.

In their District 20-3A opener, Stanton rushed for 109 yards on 13 caries and 5 touchdowns. One of his TD's came on a spectacular kick-off return of 90 yards and with four games left to play in regular season play, Stanton could easily surpass the 1,116 yards he posted last season. As a junior, Stanton handled the pigskin for 132 carries for 14 touchdowns and caught 23 passes for 421 yards and six TDs.

Playing before a homecoming crowd, Stanton and company put on a fireworks display, lighting up the scoreboard in every possible way. There were touchdown runs, touchdown passes, an interception and return that led to a touchdown, and the long kickoff return adding another six. Quarterback Jacolby Spencer got in on the action with a 52-yard run and 6 of 11 passing for 120 yards and one TD.

In the first quarter, the Lumberjacks got off to a quick start scoring TD's on their first three possessions. Stanton got the romp started with a 4- yard run for the first of his 5 TD's. Kicker Alex Castillo followed with his first of eight P.A.T.'s.

Following a Rusk three and out and a nine yard punt, the Jacks started on the Eagle 28. Following a Spencer to Stanton 23- yard pass, Stanton blasted in from 5 yards out. Castillo kicked the P.A.T.

Still in the first quarter, the Jacks scored again after another short punt and a 15-yard return. From the Rusk 28, Spencer fired a bullet to receiver J.J. Hayes for his sixth TD catch of the season. After Castillo's kick the Jacks led 21-0.

Starting the second half with a 21-point margin, the Jacks broke the game wide open by scoring TD's in their next five possessions. Stanton scored three times which included a 90-yard kickoff return, a 40-yard run, and capped off the night with a 2-yard run.

Stanton took the rest of the night off but his teammates weren't through putting points on the board. Kendal Jackson rang up his fifth touchdown of the season and Kamran McCollum scored his second.

On defense senior Jimmy Garcia racked up his first career touchdown picking off a Rusk pass and returning it 25 yards for the score. The rest of the Lumberjacks "Big D" unit played an outstanding game, by holding the Eagles scoreless with six, 3 and out and two stops on 4th down attempts.

The Jacks kicking game was super as usual with Castillo's hot foot leading the way, Castillo's try for the DHS field goal record failed when his 46-yard attempt hit the cross bar and bounced back. During practice before the game, Castillo nailed one from 51-yards. Begin only a junior, he should have many more chances before his graduation in 2008.

Next game for Coach Gary Martel's Lumberjacks will be on the road against the Huntington Red Devils at 7:30p.m. Support the Jacks! See you at the game.
