IMA JEAN ANDERSON

July 6, 1929 - Oct. 15, 2007

Ima Jean Anderson, 78, of Lufkin, was born on July 6, 1929, in Shelby County, Texas, the daughter of the late Bertha (Smith) and Joe Wilkerson, Sr. She passed away Monday, October 15, 2007, in a Lufkin hospital.

Services for Mrs. Anderson were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jeff Robinson and Reverend C.G. "Buster" Grigg officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Anderson moved to Diboll, Texas with her family in 1946, and graduated as Miss Diboll High School in 1947. She had live in Lufkin most of her life, and retired from The Lufkin-Conroe Telephone Exchange on December 31, 1991, following 42 years of services. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Southside Baptist Church, and the SPJST Lodge. She had a cheerful heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She is survived by her devoted son, Calvin Lee Anderson II (Andy) - the joy of her life, and his fiance, Maria H. Enriquez; brother and sister-in-law, Joe Jr. and Ella W. Wilkerson of Diboll; sisters, Novis Rains and Loyce Waley, both of Diboll; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma and Billy Breazeale and Clara and Jerry Breazeale, all of Diboll; brother-in-law, Joe Bridwell of Diboll; sister-in-law, Helen Anderson of Dallas; nieces and nephews, Carolyn and Billy McClendon, Hellen Schmidt, Nick Ashworth, Darlene and Donnie Kee, Deidra and Kenney Carrell, Debbie and Jerry Mettlen, Sharon and Bill Brown, Cynthia and Randy McKnight, Debbie and Arturo Ruiz-Esparza and Diane and Don Slosar; several great-nieces and nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Calvin Lee Anderson, on January 6, 2004; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Naomi and Shelly Anderson; sister, Maurine Bridwell; and brothers-in-law, Steve Waley, Rob Rains and John Anderson.

Pallbearers were Donnie Kee, Kenney Carrell, Bill Brown, Jimmy Allen, Don Slosar and Arturo Ruiz-Esparza. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to her wonderful caregivers, friends and the staff of Hospice in the Pines for their love and compassion shown to Mrs. Anderson.
