The Lumberjack JV/Freshmen combo drove the Huntington Red Devils right out of the stadium last Thursday night, 30 to 0. The Jack defenses were up to the task, drilling Red Devil backs and receivers into the dirt.
Huge hits from Kenneth Curry, Steven Brown, Ivan Alvarez, Carlos Medina and Nick Smith, who knocked himself out of commission, were crucial to the attack. Turnovers were also the order of the day as the Jack defense forced three fumbles and picked off four passes. Jonathon Lowe recovered one fumble as Curry and Jordan Hernandez each dropped on two more.
John Alvarez started Diboll's scoring with a 70 yard return on an interception early in the game while Emanuel Hernandez, Kris Whitworth, and Estaban Solis each had picks of the Devil quarterback. With such a devastating exhibition on defense, the offense capitalized with good field position by keeping it on the ground and hand off to Curry for a 43 yard running TD and the conversion was completed in the air from Cole Hodge to Chris Hensley.
Then, in the second half, it was Chris Bailey on a QB keeper around the right side lead by Faustino Villela into the endzone and it was JJ Hubbard up the middle for the conversion. Hodge finished the scoring by running on another QB keeper this time around the left side and scurried 65 yards for the TD as Hodge completed the conversion to Bailey for the conversion.
