Sandra Yvonne Medley, 65, of Diboll, was born November 12, 1941, in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Helen (Copeland) and Finis Ashworth. On Sunday, Sandra had a celebration of life on her last day here, with all the family that she dearly loved, and passed away Monday, October 22, 2007, at her residence.
Sandra was an elementary teacher for 29 years for gifted and talented students. She graduated from the University of Houston Summa Cum Laude and was issued a lifetime teacher's certificate from the State of Texas. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, Diboll Garden Club, and First United Methodist Church in Lufkin.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Harry J. Medley of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Joel C. and Susan Medley of Littleton, Colorado; brother, Dennis Ashworth of Texas City; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Ruby Ann Henkel. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Sandra's memory to any of the libraries in Diboll.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Gipson Funeral Home.
