Evidently the third weekend of October is the best one of the entire year for perfect weather so there are many activities planned. This year was no exception. Neal and Evelyn Denman were here from Georgia so he could attend the class reunion of 1945-46. He was with the group for a while then came to the reunion where we were at Salem Baptist Church. Family and Friends of Lewis and Barbara Denman met with us and we had a fantastic time.
Randy and Eileen had gotten here with the Team Allegro barbecue cooking trailer. Nobody had seen it but Beamon and me and pictures just don't do it justice. They had come through Shreveport to stop at the Backwoods Smoker shop to have the doors on those cookers changed out to stainless steel doors. I thought the other doors made the meat taste fantastic but it seems these doors smarten up the looks of the cookers.
Doug Dennin who is a barbecue cooker in another sanction came from Houston to visit with and help Randy do the cooking. He made every step Randy did and he did not have to be coaxed to his bed each night; he was exhausted! With no time to chase around, Eileen's son and his daughter Billy and Kathryn Schmidt drove up from Houston to be with us as did her sister and husband, Sandy and Dave Weindorf of Spring.
Other kin and friends here were Butch and Rita Blevins, Wesley and Ola Mae Scogin, Arlington; Teresa and Kelsey Moore, Gene Reeves, Ft. Worth; George and Lynn Weaver, Rockdale; Raely and Jessica Weaver, Christal Shaw, Nacogdoches; Louis and Ethel Pate, Atlanta; Amber, Chloe and Jason Harris, Elaina Daniel, Houston; Jeremy Spruell, Webster; Bill Birdwell, Seabrook; Shirley McKinney, Brendan Warr, Cloie Burnaman, Etoile; Larry and Carolyn Denman, Betty Hibbard, Buffalo; Kathy Comunale, Willis.
Greg Denman and the Crime Stoppers played at lunchtime Friday for folks to listen to them and eat lunch on Cotton Square and Greg's dad Neal enjoyed the music, too. Then the band played Saturday morning at the Lufkin Civic Center before he came to our reunion and then he and Terri were off to Houston that night to attend an awards banquet. I believe he is busier now than before he retired from the police force. Others from Lufkin were Sonny Denman, Leslie Campbell, Pat and Johnny Garrett,. Byron, Jodi, Anne and Janie Morgan, Brad Reid, Bobby, Mica and Destinie Sullivan, Wayne, Melissa,
Tate and Cade Jordon, Ola.Mae Gordon, Brandi and Jackson Lankford, Frank and Eleana Clark, Janice Brooks, .Bro. Blackie Cranford, Barry Hancock. Huntington folks attending were Mildred Denman, Cletus and Gladys Russell, Linda Cook, Myrtie Bee Moncrief, Reba Clark, Shaun Buckner, Josh Cole, Chris Hoeny, Vickie Denman, Sam Webb, Melissa Franks, Dick and Joyce Webb, Joe and Barbara Charanza, Lynn and Sundra Denman., Jill, Jordon, Tiffany and Luke Young, Josh and Lori Denman,

Billy Schmidt was telling me that he and other members from Sugarland First Methodist Church spent some time this past summer in Ukraine and were well received by the people there. On the way home they spent two nights in Vienna and he enjoyed seeing all the country. Beamon surprised me one morning when I started to the store and went along to visit with his longtime driving friend E.B. Berry. He finally recognized Earl Maxwell who once was a lawman in Huntington.
Happy birthday to twins Sandra Moncrief Glidden of Clute and Randall Moncrief who are the children of Myrtie Bee Moncrief.
Rob Reynolds was finally getting over the wonderful time he had at his birthday party. The parties wipe him out but he does enjoy them!
Randy had a great visit with Mike Ebarb, Ruth Denman and Ann Blanton. He also shopped at Boot's True Value Hardware store and said you can usually look and look at other places and come back there to find what you need. He learned that a long time ago.
