Betty Brooks Bardwell, 76, of Lufkin, was born September 7, 1931, in Panola County, Texas, the daughter of the late Minnie (Alford) and William Stillwell. She passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007, at her residence.
Services for Mrs. Bardwell were held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Graveside services followed Tuesday in the Walnut Springs Cemetery in Carthage.
Mrs. Bardwell was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was especially devoted to, and her life revolved around, her two grandsons, Colt and Chad. She enjoyed being with them and doing things with them. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She was retired from Lufkin Industries, where she was employed as Executive Secretary for many years. Mrs. Bardwell was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Walt Bardwell of Lufkin; son, William Bardwell and Mary Blanchard of Lufkin; daughter, Judy Valentine and Richard Corbitt of Dallas; grandsons, Colt Valentine and wife Stephanie and Chad Valentine; and a number of other family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Chad Valentine, Colt Valentine, Christopher Simmons, Chase Simmons, Chad Burch and Craig Simmons.
