Basketball underway in Diboll; Lady Jacks to complete in Hudson Tourney
The Diboll Lumberjack seventh and eighth grade squads took on the Carthage Bulldogs in basketball action Monday night with the final results.
The seventh grade B team lost by a score of 10-30 with the following contributors scoring: Alex Chavarria -1 point; Melvin Sawyer - 1 point; Zach Hobbs - 2 points and Jake Hale - 4 points.
The seventh grade A team won their game by a score of 21-14. Scoring for the A team were Jake Stifle - 2 points; Carlos Teal - 9 points; Jeric Smith- 8 points and Jarvis Shepherd - 2 points.
The eighth grade B lost lost their battle with the Bulldogs, 8-20. Scoring were Alex Grimaldo- 2 points; Carlos Lewis- 2 points; Scott Smith- 2 points and Zach Lee- 2 points.
The A-team lost 29-38 with the following scoring efforts. Adam Lowther - 2 points; Stewart Beard- 12 points and Angel Cruz - 15 points.
The Lady Jacks were also busy last week playing some tough Livingston ladies. The freshman squad lost 48-50 with Natalie Chagolla scoring 14 points and Yazmine Phipps adding 10.
The junior varsity Lady Jacks were successful in their bid for a win 51-44. Chelsea Burns had 8 point, Frankie Boganywith 9 and Ty Jackson with 24.
The varsity girls won by a score of 52-42 with Nikki Greene scoring Vanessa Jones adding 15. Greene was also tough on defense with 7 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.
The Lady Jacks traveledto Huntsville last night and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, they will compete in the Hudson Tournament.
