Huntington United Methodist Church December 2nd was the First Sunday of Advent and Communion Sunday the color is white. The lighting of the Advent candle was by the Scott Family: Laura, Ellie, Sammie and Cassie. Our Organist is Janet Thomas and the Pianist, Carolyn Black. Thought: Christ can give us a new look and a new outlook. Psalm 51:7. December Birthdays: Leanna VanXlaita 15th; Kenneth Dylan Strickland 17th; twins, Alan Redd and Betsy Smith the 18th. Anniversary Blessings: Darryl and Danielle Harris Dec. 3rd; Chris and Cathy Runnels the 17th; Robin and Shirley Ballard the 17th; Jeff and Susie Hodge the 17th. Special Get Well Prayers are with Debra Bashaw during her illness and was missed in church worship Sunday. There will be no Fourth Sunday Luncheon in December. Instead, our Christmas Dinner will be December 12th, 7:00 pm. For those wishing to go caroling we will leave the building at 6:00 pm and come back to join in the Christmas Dinner festivities. Priscilla Circle will meet December 6th at 6:00. Christmas Eve Candle Light Service will begin at 6:00 pm and will last for about 30 minutes. That leaves plenty of time for Santa! United Methodist Women meet every 2nd Monday of the month. Priscilla Circle meets on the third Thursday. We appreciate all the work these two groups do. Priscilla focuses on local missions while U.M.W. focuses on global. X-treme Teens are selling calendars for the New Year. The cost is $6:00. These proceeds will go toward Mid Winter retreat. The cost of the retreat is $99.00 per child. Thanks to all who participated with "Gifts and Gumbo" Saturday. We'll be happy to get a report on attendance and profits for the Priscilla Circle. Sunday our X-treme Teens and K.I.C. youth and children are helping in the worship service. We welcome them to the "front" of the Sanctuary! Don and Betty Hall spent Thanksgiving with their children in Oklahoma. Their daughter had Thanksgiving dinner in Skiatooh, OK. Friday, Betty and Don visited high school friends and later went to Emid, OK. That evening Emid had 2 _ inches of snow. Don and Betty remembered why they left Oklahoma and moved to eastern Texas. Sympathy is with the family of Louise Collins. She was 92 years old. |
