Ruth Menefee Morton

Funeral services for Ruth Menefee Morton, 83, of Lufkin were held Saturday, November 8, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Keith Woolf officiating. Interment followed in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.

Mrs. Morton was born January 15, 1924 in Chireno, Texas to the late Lela (Layton) and Sol B. Menefee, and died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 in a local hospital.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Morton of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Warren Gamel of Longview; son and daughter-inlaw, Dr. Troy and Eunice Morton of Longview; daughters and sons-in- law, Elaine and Gaylon Wallace of Lufkin and Janet and George Puryear of Tomball; seven grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott E. Gamel;

one brother; and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Troy Morton, Josh Morton, Todd Gamel, Warren Gamel, Michael Puryear and George Puryear. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Best, Curtis Messer, Roger Burton and Gaylon Wallace.
