Hazel M. "Granny" Forrest

Funeral services for Hazel M. "Granny" Forrest, 89, of Diboll were held Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary York and Reverend Jon Watson officiating. Interment followed in the Fielder Cemetery.

Mrs. Forrest was born December 28, 1917 in Palestine, Texas to the late Katy (Perry) and Andrew Jackson Middleton, and died Monday, December 3. 2007 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Forrest was a lifelong Angelina County resident, She enjoyed her church, Pine Valley Congregational Methodist Church, by teaching and guiding the children. She loved cooking and working her garden, but her great-grandchildren were the love of her life.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Smokie Stover of Diboll; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Suzanne Forrest of New Braunfels and Dennis and Carol Forrest of Caldwell; daughter-inlaw, Delight Allen of Diboll; grandchildren and spouses, Laura Haas, Charles and Ashley Stover, Rusty and Jennifer Stover, Richard Stover, Ten and Jon Watson, Brent and Tamesha Forrest, Darel and Crystal Forrest, Sherry and Kristian Wadstrom, Amy and Gordan White, James Dillion and Vanessa Rosales, Cody and Heather Forrest and Lauren and Shawn Briggs; great-grandchildren, Heather Forrest, Caleb Forrest, Joshua Watson, Erin Watson, Triston Stover, Luther Stover, Steed Stover and Samuel Forrest; brother, James L. Middleton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Horace Fletcher, Betty and James Burke and Margie and Larry Williams; brother-in-law, H.G. Havard; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Samuel Hogue Forrest; granddaughter, Charlotte Forrest; sisters, Helen Middleton and Lenora Havard; brother, Horace Middleton; and daughter-in-law, Jonnie Forrest. Mrs. Forrest's grandsons served as pallbearers.
