Dorothy "Edith" Hollis

Dorothy Edith HoIlis, 81, of Lufkin, was born September 3, 1 926, in Trinity County, Texas, the daughter of the late Anna Headwig (Mochman) and William Travis Swor. She passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Hollis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a Respiratory Therapist and LVN, and previously worked at both Woodland Heights Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center of East Texas. She loved working in her yard and being around her church family. Mrs. Hollis was a member of Union Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Joe M. Hollis of Lufkin; daughters, Dorthey Ann Singleton of Lufkin and Nancy Lynn DuBose of Pollok; sons, Raymond Melvin Hollis of Lake- Jackson and Donald Milton Hollis of Wharton; sister, Nettle Jane Camp of Hudson; brother, Carl Burnis Synder of Grand Prairie; 1 2 grandchildren; 1 7 great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members.

Pallbearers were Coy DuBose, Melvin Hollis, Milton Hollis, Randy Scogin, Mark Hogberg and David Gordon. Services for Mrs. Hollis were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pat Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Trinity County.
