Holiday baseball camp set for Lufkin

The 2007 Holiday Baseball Camp for youngsters ages 8 through 18 will be held Dec. 29 and 30 at Angelina College, 3500 S. First St. in Lufkin.

Chris Smith, Los Angeles Dodgers scout and former coach at Cal State Fullerton and Loyola Marymont, will direct the camp. He will be assisted by Jeff Livin, head coach at Angelina College, and Kyle Van Hook, Seattle Mariners scout, former head baseball coach at Blinn College and former assistant coach at San Jacinto College.

The camp, a comprehensive program on hitting, pitching and throwing mechanics, will offer quality instruction in the fundamentals of baseball and an opportunity for practice and drills.

The camp is designed to ensure a 12 to 1 camper to coach ratio. Camp attendance will be limited.

In case of bad weather, there is an indoor facility available.

The camp cost is $80 per camper, which includes nine hours of instruction in three sessions 9 am. to noon, Dec. 29; 1-4 p.m., Dec. 29; and 1 - 4, Dec. 30.

The emphasis will be on hitting, pitching and defensive positions.

Each camper will be filmed and evaluated by the coaching staff during the camp.

For registration information call Livin at 936-639-0647 after 6 p.m.
