Huntington United Methodist Church

December 9th was the second Sunday of Advent, the Tony Burnet family lit the two candles, Jamie, Dezirae, Brennan and Dominique.

The Scott Family read the scriptures and lit the first Advent candle. Fred, Laura, Ellie, Sammie and Cassie.

Thought: The Christmas vision means hope for tomorrow. Proverbs 29:18.

December Birthdays: Lisa Conner the granddaughter of Jean Nass, the 22nd; Bob Pinner and Shane Stover the 26th; Carolyn Cleavens the 27th and Joan Gallas the 28th.

Anniversary Blessings: Glen and Dr. Bonita Simpson Jacobs, Dec. 26th.

There will be no Fourth Sunday Luncheon in December. Instead, our Christmas Dinner will be December 12th, 7:00 pm. For those wishing to go caroling we will leave the building at 6:00 pm and come back to join in the Christmas Dinner festivities. Priscilla Circle will meet December 6th at 6:00.

Christmas Eve Candle Light Service will begin at 6:00 pm and will last for about 30 minutes. That leaves plenty of time for Santa!

United Methodist Women meet every 2nd Monday of the month. Priscilla Circle meets on the third Thursday. We appreciate all the work these two groups do. Priscilla focuses on local missions while U.M.W. focuses on global.

Priscilla Circle had a great time exchanging gifts this past Thursday.

The United Methodist Women met in the lovely home of Joe David and Janice Wilroy over near Fort Stanley for their December program and Christmas party last Monday, December 10th. Members are: Merlene Cowart, Betty Hall, Winnie Hatch, Juanita Hopson and Gerry Hovey. Also, Berta Love, Carole Pinner, Polly Trinkle, Janet Thomas, and Janice Wilroy.

Our prayers are with our Pastor Martin Doran and all other who are ill or having surgery. He wil have his surgery at M.D. Anderson, Houston. December 28th. He will return home Dec. 30th. He will be out of the pulpit one Sunday.
