LIGHTS OUT
Many Diboll homes without power after line torn down
By MARCELLA HERNDON Staff writer

Free Press photo by Marcella Herndon Electric crews survey damage at the scene where a truck, carrying an over-sized load, tore down power lines across U.S. State Highway highway 59 in Diboll.
On Tuesday, December 11, a truck carrying a tall load snagged a high voltage power line while heading south on U.S. State Highway 59.

Diboll police, along with Diboll Volunteer Fire Department, closed Hwy 59 in both directions in front of Flowers Paint & Body Shop located at 9171 S Hwy 59.

Residents in the area were without power for hours as the downed lines caused highway and road closures, backing traffic up as far back as Angelina College.

TXU was called to the scene to restore electricity to nearby homes and make necessary repairs to the shattered pole.

There were no injuries reported and it is unknown at this time if the driver of the truck received any citations.
