City thanks employees for service On Friday, December 7 the city of Diboll hosted its annual employee appreciation luncheon at City Hall Friday, December 7. "The awards are primarily incentive awards to help motivate employees," said Diboll City Manager Kenneth Williams. According to Williams, the annual incentives are a good way to recruit and retain employees. The awards luncheon was originally hosted at Lufkin Barbeque, then transferred years later to Lottie & Arthur Temple Civic Center and now is hosted at Diboll City Hall in the council's chamber. Employees in attendance were honored for five, ten or fifteen year tenure with the city. A pre-Christmas lunch consisted of cornbread dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, turkey, rolls and several varieties of desert. Bill Brown, Diboll mayor, along with council member Don Hendrick and wife Sandy, attended the luncheon to offer congratulations and well wishes. The atmosphere at the luncheon closely resembled a festive holiday dinner with family and friends, as participants pushed away their empty plates and loosened their waist buckles. "This has been a great event for several years. It's a lot of fun for everyone to come together to celebrate the employees that have been with the city for so many years," said Diboll City Secretary, Tina Cavazo. Those being honored this year were: Norma Moore, five years, Officer Tony Rice, five years, Winston Hook, five years, Armando Flores, ten years, Judge R.G. Bowers, ten years and Gerardo Rojas, fifteen years. For over 28 years, the city of Diboll has been honoring city employees that have exemplified longevity and good job performance with the city, by way of appreciation awards. |
