J. C. Duty, Jr.

J. C. Duty,Jr., 80, of Corrigan, was born April 7, 1927, in Jacksonville, Texas, the son of the late Juanita (Scruggs) and Julius Duty. He passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, in a local hospital.

Mr. Duty was retired from the United States Navy, following more than 20 years of service to his country. He served in during World War II and during the Korean Conflict. J. C. and his wife Johnnie Mae traveled all over the world during his 20 year military career. He was a member of Wakefield Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sisters, Janice Y'Barbo of Lulkin and Patricia Carr of West Monroe, Louisiana; brothers, Everett L. "Bill" Duty of Longview and Jerry B. Duty of Beaumont; sistersin law, Sara Clark and Vina Havard, both of Corrigan; special nephew, Charlie Boy McPhail; other nephews, Mike McPhail, Douglas Y'Barbo, Jr. and Mark Carr; and nieces, Peggy Caskey, Brenda Marcus and Suzanne Carr.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in J.C.'s memory to Wakefield Baptist Church, Route 1 Box 1 11, Corrigan, Texas 75939.

Services for J.C. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Robert Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheeler Cemetery in Wakefield.
