Diboll High School hosts 2007 sports banquet
Gary Martel, Diboll High's Head football coach, pumped the crowd of anxious teens with words of team spirit and encouragement. Parents joined in on the celebration with cheerful applauding, as team members were called to collect framed certificates. Martel presented football awards to the following students: MVP, Ketaraus Stanton; outstanding offensive back, Jacolby Spencer; outstanding offensive lineman, Chance Johnson; outstanding receiver, J.J. Hayes; outstanding defensive back, lineman, Ivan Meza; linebacker, Adrian Vasquez; outstanding special teams player, Alex Castillo; Lumberjack heart award, Kyle Prescott and most enthusiastic award went to, Ryan Whitworth. Coach Zach Johnson presented girls and boys cross country awards to: MVP, Amanda Drake, MOST IMPROVED, Irma (GABBY) Saucedo, LADYJACK HEART AWARD, Victoria Olvera and MOST ENTHUSIASTIC award went to, Maria Olvera. Boys MVP, Juan Robles, MOST IMPROVED, Francisco Salas, LUMBERJACK HEART AWARD, Guadalupe Alonso and MOST ENTHUSIASTIC went to, Scott Drake. Coach Pam Bass presented Volleyball awards to: MVP, PJ Tappin, OFF. PLAYER, JA'Frina Jackson, DEF. PLAYER, December Simmons, LADYJACK HEART AWARD, Jennifer Bradley, MOST ENTHUSIASTIC, Mayra Silva and MOST IMPROVED went to, Tremecia Hadnot. Cheerleader awards went to: CHEERLEADER HEART AWARD, Valerie Salaiz/Katie Kettering and MOST ENTHUSIASTIC went to, Dominique West. Dazzler awards went to: DAZZLER HEART AWARD, Mandi Lovette, MOST ENTHUSIASTIC, Chelsea Havard and MOST IMPROVED went to, Lacy Burchfield. With the season coming to an end, coach Martel would like to thank all players and 2007 team members. "As a team all players are a valuable asset and play an instrumental part in the success of the team as a whole," expressed Martel. |
