Jubilee Church
We live in a very negative world today. People have been told they can't get the job done; they will never measure up, are a failure in life and will never amount to anything. Many have been told this so many times that they start to believe it and it carries over into their spiritual life. Every week someone will tell me that they know what they should do about church, faith, some habit, commitment to Jesus and other spiritual matters in their lives, "BUT, I just can't," they will say.
Paul writes in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Paul is our Doctoral Theologian with an "I can" attitude. He not only wrote about it but he did it. Paul debated the educated Pharisees and appealed to Rome, stood before Caesar and represented himself quiet eloquently at his trial for being a Christian. Paul new he could serve the Lord and the power of God through faith made him able to do all that he did.
Yea but, this ol' country boy preacher ain't no Doctoral Theologian and that is why I like the story recorded in Mark chapter 5. There was a demon-possessed man who lived in the caves and tombs outside of the town of Gadara. His name was Legion because he had so many demons.
How big an army is a Legion of Roman Soldiers? Translating that into Deep East Texas English we would say this was a Battalion of well armed, well trained, battle hardened Marines. This man, Legion, was possessed by this strong and this many demons. None of those demons wanted him to turn to Jesus in faith but as soon as Jesus got out of the boat and this man "saw Jesus AFAR OFF, he ran and worshipped him." We don't know how far off Jesus was but it was far enough to be noted in the Word that it was some great distance.
This man, Legion, did not know anything about what Paul the Doctoral Theologian was going to write about 45 years later. He just knew those demons were not holding him back and he ran to Jesus. If you think you "can't" when it comes to making a commitment to your church, kicking some habit, loosing weight, or getting involved in the ministry of your church, remember this man, Legion. Translate this story into Deep East Texas English. If a battalion of battle hardened fighting Marines could not keep him from running to Jesus and worshipping Him then there is nothing that can keep you from doing what you want to either.
This world is a negative, can't-do, won't-measure-up world. Jesus is a can do Lord. If you do not have a church home and want to be a part of a can do church, we invite you to come visit with us at Jubilee Baptist Church.

March 2nd was the fourth Sunday of Lent and color is still purple.
Thought: Someone has said, we cannot have peace among nations until we have peace among ourselves; we cannot have peace within ourselves until we have Christ within our hearts. Either we are instruments of peace in our daily living or we are instruments of strife. The spirit of Christ in our lives makes the difference. Zechariah 4:6.
"You Matter More Than You Think" is a study that Priscilla Circle is currently studying. This is a great time for ladies wanting to be involved in a study and at the same time become involved with Priscilla Circle.
Easter lily Orders: Use the form provided to purchase in memory or honor of a loved one. These plants are used to decorate the Sanctuary on Easter morning.
We are in the process of revamping our prayer chain. These forms are located in the Narthex. Nothing we do in the church is more powerful than prayer. Everyone should consider being a part of this worthy program.
