DIBOLL, ANGELINA COUNTY AND BEYOND
      Former Dibollians Boots and Howard Hutto are TV celebrities. They have moved from Cedar Creek Lake to Highland Springs Retirement Community in Dallas. From more than 300 residents they were chosen to do a TV commercial for the HS community. Their daughter, Rita Howard, lives about one mile from them and went over to help them get ready for the filming.

      Now that the excitement of having had a presidential primary that Means Something has died down a bit, maybe we can safely observe that this has been a really strange presidential election cycle. Think about it. Liberals have been dreaming for years and years of the day when the country would be ready for a black president or a woman president.

      Be sure that you go by the Museum of East Texas and see the photographs taken by Holly Henderson, 28 year old daughter of Joie and Simon (Bubba) Henderson, III. Her black and white photos are of local people and places here in East Texas. The exhibit is entitled "Home in East Texas".

      "The Love of Sunya," with silentscreen superstar Gloria Swanson and a handsome Texan as her handpicked leading man, opened on Mar. 12, 1927 in New York City. John Boles grew up in Greenville, where he was born in 1895.

Importance of Neches River presented to retired teachers
      Richard Donovan told Angelina Country Retired Teachers about the importance of the Neches River at the group's meeting Feb. 20. He spoke on the importance of the Neches River in the East Texas landscape and showed a very interesting slide show of his 27-day trip on the river. There is a mixture of historical, wildlife and rare plant photos of the river's drainage area.

Life of mother hummingbird topic for Diboll Garden Club
      The Diboll Garden Club met on February 26, 2008 in the home of Kathy Sample. Virginia Welch President of Cut N' Grow Garden Club, Lufkin gave the program on the Life of a Mother Hummingbird. Door prizes were won by Gloria Neel and Sophie Lenderman.

T.L.L. Memorial Library News
      At this time the Library is closed for the move to the temporary location at 800 N. Temple. Never fear, we will open again on Monday March 24, 2008 in our new location, albeit with a smaller selection of books. Thankfully, it is all just temporary and before you know it, we will be back in our newly renovated building and open with a full collection.
