Rosa Sawyer Adams

Rosa Sawyer Adams, 85, of Huntington, was born August 17, 1922, in Buna, Texas, the daughter of the late Margaret Lenora (Simmons) and Albert

C. Leviness. She passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a

member of Hudson United Pentecostal Church.

She left all her friends at Huntington Health Care, where Mike and Mark, along with their staff, made life one big blessing for her final life on earth, and for that, we say "Thank you from our hearts!"

Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Robert E. Adams of Lufkin and his family; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dell Sawyer of Lufkin;

daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanene and Marvin Hale of Huntington; Lois and David Shelton of Lufkin and Alice and Donald Stringer of Huntington;

daughter, Emma Hardy of Lufkin; 12 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Buddy

Barclay of Warren; sister-in-law, Dena Smith of Newton; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Junis W. Sawyer; son-in-law, Raymond Hardy; brother, Thomas Smith; and sisters, I. V. Yawn,

Viellena Vanderslice and Bertha Mae Talley.

Pallbearers were Jason Sawyer, Henry Earl Sawyer, Bradley Stringer, Daron Shelton, Dale Carter and Brent Forrest.

Services for Mrs. Adams were held at 10:00 a.m Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ron Smith, Bro.Clayton McClendon and Bro. Johnny Girardo officiating. Interment followed in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Wesley "Dunk" Allen

Funeral services for Wesley "Dunk" Allen, 87, of Lufkin were held Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home

Chapel with Reverend Ray Pinner, Reverend Ronnie Frankens, and Reverend Bud Davis officiating. Interment followed in the Whitehouse

Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was born May 11, 1920 in Angelina County, Texas (Allentown) to Ellie Wilson (Burns) and Louellon Thomas Allen and died Thursday, April 10, 2008 in a local hospital. He resided in Allentown all his life.

Mr. Allen served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Allen was a member of Allentown United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Allen of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Ellie and Gerald Crump of Lufkin; Sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley Allen, Jr. and Barbara of Pollok, Bobby Frank and Rebecca Allen of Luflcin; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Robert Allen, Keith Jones, Bobby Jones, Bobby (Bubba) Allen, Gerald Crump, Jr., and Richard Jones.

The family would like to thank special caregivers, Tammy and Cliff Lewis. And also, a special thank you to the staff of NStep and Grace Care Center.

Betty Sue Flurry

Funeral services for Betty Sue Flurry, 67, of Huntington were held Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Gary Forrest and Brother R.C, Forrest officiating. Interment followed in the Treadwell Cemetery.

Mrs. Flurry was born October 2, 1940 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Mildred (Curry) and James Albert Stanbery, and died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in a local nursing home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Mrs. Flurry was a lifetime resident of Huntington. She was a great hunter and fisherman. She loved working in the yard, reading, crocheting and spending time with her family; Mrs. Flurry was a member of the Highway Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Flurry of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Gary Forrest, Libby and Lewis Sapp and Bonnie and Randy Martin, all of Huntington; grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Michele Forrest, Jacob and Sarah Sapp, Amanda and Blake Powers, Jessica and Gary Litton, Zachary Sapp, Luke Martin and Grace Martin; great-granddaughter, Lexi Litton; great-grandchildren arriving in June, Cade Forrest and Rebekah Sapp; sister, Opal Ray of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Manell and Ross McClain of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Joyce Stanbery of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Linwood and Rita Flurry and Glenn and Paula Flurry, all of Huntington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lovy Ellis; brothers, SB., Otis and A.J. Stanbery; and mother-inlaw and father-in-law! Marie and Wiley Flurry.

Pallbearers were Robert Forrest, Jacob Sapp, Zachary Sapp, Luke Martin, Blake Powers and Gary Litton.

Mildred Barker Maddux

Funeral services for Marjorie Mildred Barker Maddux, 90, of Lufkin were held Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:00 am. in the Carroway- Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment followed in the Kitchens Cemetery.

Mrs. Maddux was born July 2, 1917 in the Montalba, Texas to Archie Randall and Martha Ola (Roberson) Casey, and died Friday, April 11, 2008, in a local hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Don Craig of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mary Barker of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Brenda and Ed Jones of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Dr. Steve and Kim Widner of Austin; grandson and wife, Russell and Paige Widner of Kingwood; grandson and wife, Mike and Stacey Widner of Bastrop; grandson and wife, Kyle and Tamara Barker of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Stephanie and Jason Berry of Lufkin; grandson, Steven Barker of Lufkin; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, and sister Bonnie Mundy of Palestine, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Martha Casey, husband, Herman Barker, husband Buford Maddux Sr., sister Jackie Barr, sister Leslie Winger, sister Virginia Casey, brother Vernon Casey, brother Lucian (Boo) Mason and brother, Lonnie Mason.

Pallbearers were Kyle Barker, Steven Barker, Mike Widner, Steve Widner, Russell Widner, Ed Jones, and Jordan Jones. The family would like to thank the CNA staff and nurses at Castle Pines for the care Mrs. Maddux received.

Oren S. McWhorter

Funeral Services for Oren S. McWhorter, 76, of Corrigan, Texas were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2008 in the First Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Phil Corbett, Bro Tim Fuller, and Bro. Ken Cauthen officiating. Interment will follow in the Carmona Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 5-8 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. McWhorter was born January 23, 1932 in San Benito, Texas and passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008 in Corrigan, Texas. He left school to join the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After his enlistment he then took his civil service exam and worked for the Harlingen and San Benito P.D. He also worked in the construction industry, was employed by the Polk County Road and Bridge, and owned and operated the D&M One Stop convenience store. On March 23, 1990 he was appointed Municipal Judge of Corrigan and served until his retirement on August 31, 2007. He was a past president of the Corrigan Merchant Association, a member of the Corrigan-Camden Booster Club, a member of the Corrigan VFW Post 6521 and a member of Barnum Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents: Albert B. and Francis Ann (O_Neal) McWhorter; brothers: Harlow McWhorter and

John McWhorter; sister: Connie Jones; and great grandson: Devontre Maleek Love.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Sue McWhorter; sons: William Joseph Banville of Wonderlake, Illinois, Michael Wayne Hearn of Longview, Texas and Oren S. McWhorter Jr. of Corrigan, Texas; daughters: Francis Ann Mackey of Corrigan, Texas, Vicki Jo Wagner of Cleveland, Texas, Sherry Ann Montgomery of Cleveland, Texas, Suzanne Thompson of Chester, Texas and Kelly Lynn Rice of Livingston, Texas; brother: Forrest Lane of Greenville, Texas; 25 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Chuck McWhorter, Larry Banville, Wade McWhorter, Kyle Rice, Marty Thompson, Wesley Wagner, and Edward Strickland.

Raymond E. "Bubba" Mott

Raymond E. "Bubba" Mott, 50, of Lufkin, was born August 15, 1957, in Jasper, Texas, and passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his residence.

Bubba was the "rock" of the family, he kept the family together and everyone out of trouble. He was truly an angel among us. He attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Bubba English of Kennard and Charlotte and Glenn Barton of Lufkin; sister, Mary Priscilla Parker of Lufkin; brother, Robert Mott of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Robert Brown of Pasadena; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.

Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby (Ross) and R. E. Mott; brother, Allen Dexter Mott; brother-in-law, Tim Parker; numerous aunts, uncles and a nephew.

Pallbearers were Doyle Hamilton, Daniel Hamilton, Timothy Hamilton, Christopher Mott, Charlie Ross, James "Bubba" Snook and Buddy Bailey.

Services for Bubba were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Walter Futch officiating. Interment followed in the Concord Cemetery.

Deirdre "Dee" Edwards

Renfroe

Funeral services for Deirdre "Dee" Edwards Renfroe, 43, of Lufkin were held Friday, April 11, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Robinson and Pastor Jeff Kolk officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Renfroe was born May 1, 1964 in Lufkin, Texas to Betty (McGilvra) and Bennett Jack Edwards, and died Monday, April 7, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Renfroe was a lifetime resident of Lufkin, and attended Hudson High School and Angelina College. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was excellent with her computer. Mrs. Renfroe was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Moore of Lufkin; daughter, Allison Renfroe and granddaughter, Laney Renfroe of Lufkin; stepdaughters, Savana Renfroe of Nacogdoches, Kristi Statum and husband Ricky of Buna, Kelly Renfroe of Jasper and Jennifer Renfroe of Baytown; step-grandchildren, Kimberlyn Carter of Buna and T.J. Watts of Baytown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Ronnie Warner and Debbie and Gary Campbell, altof Lufkin; brother and sister-inlaw, Dennis and Debbie Vestal of Huntington; stepbrother, Tommy Moore of Tyler; stepsisters and husbands, Michelle and Kenneth Welch of Overton and Cindy and Jason Campbell of Tyler; childhood best friend, Gail Edwards Dobson of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Renfroe; and stepfather, Jerry Moore.

Pallbearers were Bubba Warner, Gary Campbell, Dennis Jacobs, Ronnie Bynum, John Ray Baxter and Fred Bright.
