Rosa Sawyer Adams
Rosa Sawyer Adams, 85, of Huntington, was born August 17, 1922, in Buna, Texas, the daughter of the late Margaret Lenora (Simmons) and Albert C. Leviness. She passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a member of Hudson United Pentecostal Church.
She left all her friends at Huntington Health Care, where Mike and Mark, along with their staff, made life one big blessing for her final life on earth, and for that, we say "Thank you from our hearts!"
Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Robert E. Adams of Lufkin and his family; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dell Sawyer of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanene and Marvin Hale of Huntington; Lois and David Shelton of Lufkin and Alice and Donald Stringer of Huntington; daughter, Emma Hardy of Lufkin; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 greatgreat grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Buddy Barclay of Warren; sister-in-law, Dena Smith of Newton; and a number of
nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Junis W. Sawyer; son-in-law, Raymond Hardy; brother, Thomas Smith; and sisters,1. V. Yawn, Viellena Vanderslice and Bertha Mae Talley.
Pallbearers were Jason Sawyer, Henry Earl Sawyer, Bradley Stringer, Daron Shelton, Dale Carter and Brent Forrest.
Services for Mrs. Adams were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ron Smith, Bro.Clayton McClendon and Bro. Johnny Girardo officiating. Interment followed in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
John L. "Lem" Anderson, Jr. Memorial services for John L. "Lem" Anderson, Jr, 92, of Lufkin were held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway- Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gerald Hollis officiating. At that time, Dan Lamont, Jimmy Cassels and Clifford Grum will reflect on the life and times of their friend, Lem. Crematron arrangements are under the direction of Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home.
Mr. Anderson was born October 1, 1915 in Humboldt, Tennessee to Neely Emma (Sam) and John Lemuel Anderson, Sr., and died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in a local hospital.
He served on multiple Senate investigative committees, and several years later began working as a political lobbyist. Two important clients he served in this capacity were Temple-Inland and Time, Inc.
Mr. Anderson was a member of Mt. Carmel BaptistChurch.
He is survived by his niece, Ruth Ann Sobbe of St. Louis, Missouri; several other nieces and nephews; and a host of friends in and around Lufkin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Victoria Frances Anderson; sister Lexie E Mundy; and brother, Cyrus Tyree Anderson.

Terry Baird
Terry Baird, 61, of Etoile, was born March 21, 1947, in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Lorena (Higdon) and Ickey Baird. He passed away Saturday, April 12 ,2008, in the Houston VA Hospital.
Terry retired from Lufkin Industries in December 2007. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was a member of the Crosstimbers Cowboy Church and a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, DeeAnn Baird Cummings and Richard Cummings of Wylie; son and daughter-in-law, Terry II. and Tina Baird of Troup; brother and sisterin law, Mike and Pat Baird of Diboll; grandsons, Nicholas Cummings of Wylie, Travis Baird of Troup and Terry Baird, III, of Troup; granddaughter, Nichole Cummings of Wylie; and a number of nieces, r4éphews, aunts, uncles and other family members.
Friends were invited to visit with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
Walter Coyt Hight, Sr.
Walter Coyt Hight, Sr., 74, of Lufkin, was born November 1, 1 933, in Louisville, Mississippi, the son of the late Mable (Scrivener) and Leo C. Hight. He passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Hight retired from the Angelina County District Attorney's Office in 1996. He served in Angelina County law enforcement for 36 years. He also owned and operated Hight Body Shop. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Coyt Jr. and Angela Hight of Kyle, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Robyn Hight and Tony and Faye Hight, all of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hight was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Hight in 2003; 6 sisters; and three brothers. Mr. Hight's nephews served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were all former and present law enforcement personnel.
Services for Mr. Hight were held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kevin Hight officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Delton Eugene "Gene"
Mosley
Funeral services for Delton Eugene "Gene" Mosley, 67, of Huntington were held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Lamar Denby and Brother Delton Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Huntington Cemetery.
Mr. Mosley was born September 15, 1940 in Angelina County, Texas to Mary John (Collier) and Franklin Elbert Mosley, and died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Mosley was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He was a supervisor for Texas Foundries, and retired after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Highway Baptist Church in Huntington.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jenny Mosley of Lufkin; son, Dean Mosley of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Damon Hildebrand of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rhonda and Mark Hough of Lufkin; grandchildren, Shana Patrick, Jacob Mosley, Ethan Mosley, Ashley Moore, Tate Hildebrand, Elizabeth Hildebrand, Dagan Hough and Landon Hough; great-granddaughter, Abigail Moore; sister, Sue Duke; brother, Jimriy Mosley; sister-in-law, Sally Mosley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Adron Mosley.
Pallbearers were Jacob Mosley, Dagan Hough, John Stanbery, David Mosley, Tracy Harris, Brian Moore and Chad Arnold.

Ruth F. Russell
Funeral services for Ruth F. Russell, 91, of Huntington wer held Friday, April 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend James Forrest and Reverend Bradley Reed officiating Interment followed in the Jonesville Cemetery.
Mrs. Russell was born October 7, 1916 in Angelina County, Texas to Essie Arizona (Walker) White and Marshall Johnson "Doc" White, and died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Russell was a lifetime resident &Huntington. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Pine Forest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Ruby Hyacinth Hatch of Huntington and Charlene Hubbard of Port Neches; daughterin law, Joyce Russell McDaniel of Lufkin; grandchildren, Donna Hubbard Greer, Diane Hubbard Weathers, Mark Hatch, Luke Hatch, Paul Hatch and Kelly Russell; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Robert P. and Mary White of Tomball; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Floyd Russell in 1974; son, Kelly Douglas Russell; granddaughters, Denise Hubbard, Kristina Russell and Karyn Russell; sisters, Leona Massengale, Essie Mae McGaughey, Juanita Gates, Jimmie E. Brown and Ruby Sutton; and brother, Charles B. White.
Pallbearers were Mark Hatch, Luke Hatch, Paul Hatch, Kelly Russell, Matthew Hatch and Koty Russell.
Virginia Torres
Virginia Torres, 60, of Diboll, was born July 29, 1 947, in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of the late Carmen (Gonzalez) and Armando Gonzalez. She passed away Sunday, April 1 3, 2008, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Torres was a homemaker, and a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Primera Iglesia Cristiana Bautista Church.
Survivors include her husband, Martin Torres of Diboll; daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Gerardo Rojas of Diboll, Brenda and Jorge Salazar of Lufkin, Denise Torres and Luis Castillo of Diboll and Maria Louisa and Oscar Chavez of Lufkin; grandchildren, Gerardo Rojas, Jr., Damyan Rojas, Luis Angel Salazar, Jacob Salazar, Makayla Salazar, Luis Castillo, Jr., Gemini Castillo, Marcy Chavez and Oscar Chavez, Jr.; brother, Rogelio Gonzalez of Harlingen; sister, Maria Longoria of Harlingen; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Torres was preceded in death by her brothers, Guillermo Gonzalez, Ramiro Gonzalez and Armando Gonzalez, Jr.
Pallbearers were Jorge Salazar, Gerardo Rojas, Luis Angel Salazar, Guillermo Gonzalez, Jr. and Israel Longoria.
Services for Mrs. Torres were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in the Primera Iglesia Cristiana Bautista Church, with Reverend Carlos Alegria officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Buford L "Buddy" Weeks,
Jr.
Funeral services for Buford L. "Buddy" Weeks, Jr., 54, of Diboll were held Monday, April 21, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway- Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Gosney, Brother Willie Wade and Brother John Standridge officiating. Interment followed in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Weeks was born October 5, 1953 in Beaumont, Texas to 8.L., Sr., and Ima Jean (Rountree) Weeks, and died Friday, April 18, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Weeks resided in Angelina County, most of his life. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, and enjoyed playing music on the guitar and harmonica. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his parents, B.L., Sr. and Ima Jean Weeks of Diboll; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Dora Weeks of Junction and Randy and Monica Weeks of Huntington; sister and brother-inlaw, Susie and Troy Conner of Bailey, North Carolina; nephews and nieces, Andrew Conner, Deidre Conner, Carolyn. Jackson, Lauren Weeks, Allison Weeks, Casey Weeks and Whitney Weeks; and a number of great-nephews and great-nieces.
Pallbearers were Randy Weeks, Jerry Weeks, Andrew Conner, Devin Baize, Kyle Baize and Mike White.
Slade Ares Williamson
Graveside services for Slade Ares Williamson, infant son of Gerald (Jerry) and Leslie Williamson of Diboll, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Ford Atkins officiating.
Slade was born on December 27, 2007, in Livingston, Texas, and he passed away on Wednesday, April 1 6, 2008, in a Lufkin hospital. In addition to his parents, Slade is survived by his sister, Kaytlyn Williamson of Diboll; maternal grandparents, Ondrea and Tony Fournier of Canada, and Michael and Jane Standifird of Lufkin; and paternal grandparents, Gerald Williamson, Sr., of Diboll and Tina Williamson of Huntsville,
Friends were invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
Aaron Windham, II
Aaron Windham, II, 43, of Huntington, was born March 25, 1965, in Fort Hood, Texas, and passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008. Aaron was retired from the Orange County, California Sheriffs Department, where he was employed as a deputy for more than 17 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Zavalla, and was studying the Bible in order to become a Biblical teacher. Aaron served in the United States Marine Corp. for 4 years.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Windham of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Jason Nelson of Picket; daughters, Katy Windham and Morgan Windham, both of Huntington; grand daughters, Kamryn Nelson and Korey Nelson; father and mother, Wayne and Lois Windham of Huntington; brothers, Henry Kerr of Newton and Dewey Windham of Huntington; brother and sister-inlaw, Adrian and Carrie Windham of Huntington; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donna and Larry Ege of Corona, California; brotherin law, Dan Ege of Illinois; grandmothers, Jewel Procella of Newton and Opal Day of Huntington; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family members; and a host of friends.
Aaron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aaron and Ruby Windham; grandfather, Henry Procella; mother, Veronica Blair; and grandfather, Rabon Day.
Pallbearers were George Szemborski, Paul Szemborski, Gary Szemborski, Carfton Windham, Colby Mecklin, Cod Day, Darryl Day and Eric Day.
Services for Aaron were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Larry Byrd officiating. Interment followed in the Dunk Havard Cemetery.
