      It's always good news that a closed company is being reopened by a new owner. It's even better news when the company is 10 miles away. The announcement that Loggins Culinary of Tyler, described as a beef products company, will reopen the Lufkin Armour Eckrich plant that closed in March is a good sign for Angelina County's future.

News From The Round Table At Pouland's
      Marie (Miranda) Josien recently went to Mercer, Pa., to visit her niece Lisa Miranda Cruz, whose oldest son, Steven, graduated from high school. Several members of the Miranda family had planned to go with Maria but in the end, she went alone, enduring the airplane flight and renting a car. Marie did not learn to drive until just a few years ago after her husband died.

      Dolly Hudgins took a group called Friends Traveling to Canada. Stops were in Vancouver, Victoria, aboard the Rocky Mountaineer Train to Kamloops, Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff and home from Calgary.

Summer reading program off to a great start with more to come all summer long
      Summer reading is off to a good start with 111 kids and 32 teens signed up to read. The fun started with a game show for the teens hosted by Miss Vanna Black aka Cheryl Walls. Teens were given three chances to answer Jeopardy type questions with a choice of three answers.

Angelina retired teachers meet for program on T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library's summer children's activities
      Angelina County Retired Teachers heard about the services provided by the Kurth Memorial Library in Lufkin at their May 21 meeting. Karen Howell, the education coordinator of Children's Programs, and Tamara Walters, a Friend of the Library volunteer, brought the program.
