After last week's surprising revelation that Diboll Lumberjack Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Gary Martel would be moving to role of Diboll I.S.D. Superintendent, the focus has quickly moved to a search for his replacement as the Jacks head man. Officially the job was posted June 17, and will have a 10 day open period for candidate to get their resumes submitted. More ... Still riding high off of their victory in the Diboll 7-on-7 State Qualifying Tournament last weekend the Lumberjack squad would take their winning ways to uncharted waters. The Lufkin 7-on-7 SQT featuring some of the best talent from the Class 4A and 5A ranks in the Southeast Texas region and the Class 3A Diboll unit. More ... The Lufkin Saturday Bass Club held their May tournament on May 10 with the weigh-in at Monterrey Park. The weather was decent and the 16 contestants managed to find fish for the most part. The top five finishers were: Larry Frank, 13.5; Mark Hobbs, 11.8; Tom Webb, 11.1; Bill Cameron, 11.1; Donny Webb, 10.6; Bobby Baker, 9.4. Tom Webb caught the big bass which went 6.6. More ...
