ONE YEAR AGO
Olivia Fannon, 6-yearold daughter of Pastor Gary Fannon and wife Kara of the Diboll First Baptist Church, is selected Diboll High School cheerleader mascot for the coming school year.
Diboll Police Department investigates rash of vandalism by "egg throwing experts" in the vicinity of Hamner, Cypress and Booker streets. Ten complaints involving property damage, mostly automobiles, have been filed.
Emily Oliver of the Central 4-H Club in Angelina County, wins the annual State 4-H Roundup competition held at Texas A&M University. Oliver performed a clogging routine to the music of "With Love" by Hillary Duff to take the state title.
Diboll Lumberjacks dominate preseason football game against the Hardin- Jefferson Hawks (District 21-3A) with a six-touchdown blitz; holding the Hawks to a minus 10-yards in total offense and only four first downs.
FIVE YEARS AGO
TAngelina College board of trustees approves the $1,125,000 purchase of 72 acres of land, with funding for the project largely coming from a T.L.L. Temple Foundation grant totaling $1,010,000. The three tracts of land are near FM 819 across from Angelina College.
Earl Mott of Lufkin publishes "The Unseen Hand," a collection of 120 poems and 12 paintings.
Dr. Karen McBee is hired as the new director of the Fine Arts Division at Angelina College. Dr. McBee comes to AC from Panola College where she taught music for 13 years.
Workers at Diboll Subway sandwich shop put together 150-foot long submarine sandwich to promote the up-coming Diboll High School football season. Participating in the construction of the lengthy sandwich are Elender Oaks Sellman, Chandra Green and Tammy Flowers.
NASA Astronaut Col. Hank Hartsfield visits Sandra and John Ralph Pouland at the Round Table in Diboll. Col Hartsfield has piloted the Space Shuttles Columbia, Discovery and Challenger.
TEN YEARS AGO
Members of the undefeated District Champion Diboll 7-8-yearold All-Stars include Wesley Black, Jeremy Tamez, Kyle Prescott, Tin Enrique, Eddie Esteves, Carlos Palomo, Scott Parsons, Phillip Hopkins, Ryan Whitworth, Chance Johnson, Raul Dela Cruz, Robert Cedillo and Ketaurus Stanton.
Cheryl Rene' Suiter, M.D., joins East Texas Women's Clinic in Lufkin. Nashville recording artist, Stacey Lowery of Lufkin, performs songs from his album, "Stacey Lowery, Having Some Fun," at Dude's Club in Lufkin.

TWENTY YEARS AGO
Sabine Investment Co.of Texas moves its offices to the Crown Colony complex in Lufkin and its offices in Diboll will be occupied by Energy and Environmental Affairs Department of Temple Eastex.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hodges of Burke announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Linda Kay to Joe Carl Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stewart of Silsbee.
Dr. Mike Harbordt, director of Energy and Environmental Affairs for Temple-Eastex, announces the promotion of Linda Syler to manager of Water and Solid Waste Programs for Temple-Eastex.
The premier edition of Nick Wolda's East Texas Football Magazine is now available. Wolda, editor and publisher, states the 60-page 4-color magazine will be distributed throughout East Texas in grocery conveniences stores.
An overflow crowd of parents, teachers and students concerned with proposed cuts in the Diboll ISD budget meets with school board members and convinces them not to terminate any athletic programs.
THIRTY YEARS AGO
Bert Lindsey, Temple Retail Division manager, names Albert Delco assistant manager of the Big Tin Barn in Diboll.
Ernestine Bryan is appointed postmaster at Huntington. Bryan had been the postmaster at Broaddus the past five years.
T.L.L Temple Foundation donates $55,000 to Diboll ISD to help finance the purchase of four additional portable classrooms for the district.
Classes in conversational Spanish are being formed at Angelina College. The new classes will be taught either in Lufkin or Diboll.
Diboll City Manager Jeff Holberg announces the hiring of Jerry and Bill Gartman as a partnership to manage the city golf course. The Gartmans succeed Ray Paulsey, who resigned after nine years as the local golf professional.
Diboll ISD school board elevates teacher-coach Richard Sheridan to assistant high school principal, succeeding James Porter.
