Blood Drive this week

First Bank and Trust, 104 N. Temple, will conduct a blood drive from 8-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. By donating blood, donors help save up to three lives in your community, maybe even the life of someone you know. Individuals who Commit for Life and donate at least once a quarter can help ensure blood is on the shelf when they or a loved one is in need.

Those who complete their second successful donation since June 30 or who give a single successful double red cell donation will be eligible to receive a complimentary $20 Target gift card. Eligible donors may log on to the Commit for Life store at www.givebloodet.org to order their free card.

To schedule a donation, visit www.givebloodet.org or call The Blood Center East Texas at 1(888) 433-1733.

The Blood Center East Texas is the local community blood center and primary supplier of blood products to eight hospitals and healthcare facilities in the six East Texas counties surrounding Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. Individuals who are 16 years old, at least 122 pounds, in good general health and have parental consent also may donate. The donation process is simple, taking only about one hour.
