Diboll falls to Carthage
Jacks to conclude regular season on the road against Rusk Eagles
      It was truly a tough outing for the Diboll Lumberjacks Friday night in their first home loss this season to the Carthage Bulldogs 62-28. The contest featured the now 7-2, 3-1 Jacks and the 7-2, 4-0 Bulldogs in a battle for the District 18-3A Title.

Lady Jacks almost ready for tip off
      The Diboll Lady Jacks began basketball practice officially just over a week ago, and this past Saturday they traveled to Carthage to scrimmage against the Lady Bulldogs. According to Lady Jacks Head Coach Laura Knight, it was a very successful outing and for the No. 2 ranked squad in Class 3A one can never be ready too soon.

Diboll Cross Country heads down south for regionals
      Cross Country and Diboll sports fans get ready to head on down Highway 59 this weekend for the Class 3A Region III Cross Country meet in Humble. The day's event will take place at Lone Star College and the Class 3A ladies have an 11:40 a.m. start time, while the boys hit it at noon Saturday.

     Garret Morris killed this six-point buck on youth weekend Oct. 25, while hunting with his dad, Keith Morris in Stovall Hunting Club. The 80-pound deer was shot from a distance of 100 yards with a .243.

     Amisha Standley, senior student at Centerville High School, Groveton, Texas placed 2nd in the District 26-A cross country meet held at Apple Springs on October 27, 2008. She also placed 15th in the girls' 1A-3A cross country meet held in Lufkin on October 18, 2008. Amisha will advance and represent Centerville at the Region IV cross country meet in San Antonio on November 8, 2008. Standley is a resident of Diboll.

Sam Rayburn fishing report
      Sam Rayburn is at 157.03 ft and has started to hold its own. The water temperature has been around 70 degrees. The water is starting to clear some. Sam Rayburn is low! Over 7.25 ft; so running around can be a little tricky. Getting a couple of good maps, sitting down and taking a look may keep you out of trouble.
