Diboll Primary Library news
At Diboll Primary Library the goal is to encourage a life-long love for books and reading. Students have weekly opportunities to visit the library, learn to look at books in a "caring" way, and listen to stories read aloud so that they can practice their listening skills.
Pre-kindergarten students come once a week for storytime. Our kindergarten students come to the library two times a week to check out books for their parents or other family members to read to them. Our first grade students have daily access to the library for choosing books both for read aloud by family and for books they can read themselves.
It is exciting to watch the reading process in action as students strive to reach the independent reading stage in their educations. We hope to send every first grader to elementary with the ability to care for books responsibly and to read independently the books they have chosen for themselves.
Parents can help us meet these goals by making a special time for reading to their children at home and returning the library books promptly. Reading with your children is proven to increase their chances for academic success.
