      It has been many years since we have been camping and even more years than that since I have fished. We were merely kids the last time either my sister or I held a fishing pole on a creek bank. Our cane poles were fancy enough for us but it did not take long for boredom to set in.

News From The Round Table At Pouland's
      Spending a week in Branson in their RVs were Joe and Kay Gage, Linda and Clyde Maxey and Charles and Becky Donohoe. The weather was fine and everything was decorated for Christmas. They saw 11 shows, dodged a tornado and escaped a nearby earthquake. They all agreed that "The Promise" was the most powerful show.

All Around Lufkin
      My Saturday started out at the Angel of Joy Lutheran Fall Festival Bazaar. The wind was blowing and tents were falling. I met Cindy Weems at her BeautiControl booth and her daughter Holly Weems next to her with Century 21. Diana Russell is the council president and co-chair of the event with some 17 booths for their first time. Newton Lemke had a booth with his honey.

Speeding up the process
      In countries governed by parliamentary systems, a ruling party's term ends as soon as the election results are known. When one party achieves a clear majority, the head of state appoints that party's leader as prime minister or premier and that person takes over pretty immediately.

      By all appearances, Diboll City Council chose well in picking Dennis McDuffie as the town's new city manager. He has experience in the area the city most needs it. When a city gets a new chief executive, there's always a little bit of breath-holding and finger-crossing, same as when a company gets a new boss. No one knows what to expect.

      AUSTIN — Lawmakers filed more than 500 bills Nov. 10-14 in advance of the 81st session of the Texas Legislature, which convenes Jan. 13. With dynamic national and world economic conditions on the table, lawmakers' big jobs, to appropriate funding and to pass a state budget, are likely to demand more time and effort than in previous sessions.

Below: Mrs. Walker demonstrated to students and parents on how looking for adjectives in restaurant menu's can be fun and educational during "Reading and Math Night" held in the Elementary gym Monday night. There were several tables set up with fun learning games, TAKS strategies and other information to help students improve their skills in reading and math.
