Bettina Fowler Services for Bettina Fowler, 80, of Lufkin, were held Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Reverend Billy Jackson and Reverend Simon Purvis officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. She was born Dec. 4, 1927, in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of the late Nellie (Gunther) and Leonard Jones. She died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Word of Life Church, where she taught Bible classes for a number of years. She was an extraordinary teacher of the Bible. Many sought her wisdom and prayers in their time of need. She was an avid reader, and loved Christian music. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, John A Fowler of Lufkin; son and daughter-inlaw, David and Janie Fowler of Lufkin; daughter and son-inlaw, Marlaina and Glenn Owens of Baytown; grandchildren and their spouses, Davelyn and Richard Mason, Jacquelyn and Chris Purser, Elizabeth and Seth Beaver, Michael Fowler, Jason and Angela Owens, Melanie and Kelvin Pagel, Stacey and Rindi Esser and Johnny Fowler; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Crews of Hillsboro; and a number of other family members.
