Betty Jean Childress

Services for Betty Jean (Lawrence) Childress, 74, of Lufkin were held Dec. 21, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jimmy Childress offi- ciating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

She was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Houston, and died Thursday, Dec. 18, in a local hospital.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Herty Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Billy "B. E." Childress of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Janet Childress of Cypress; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and James Banks of Hudson; son and daughter in-law, Scott and Anne Childress of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jacob Childress, Daniel Banks, Leslie Banks, Thomas Childress and Shelby Childress; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bessie Lawrence; and brothers, Roy Lee and Charles "Corky" Lawrence.

Pallbearers were Jacob Childress, Daniel Banks, Thomas Childress, Todd Paulette, Donald Gandy and Dale Childress.
