Huntington United Methodist Church

December 23rd was the fourth Sunday of Advent and the color is purple.

Thought: Epiphany is a time of beginning again. It is the day we celebrate the Magi's visit to the Christ Child, a symbol that Christ was sent to be Savior of all people. Being warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the Magi returned home "by another road," and so Epiphany is often connected with change in direction. The word epiphany has come to be used to mean any change or causes us to see ourselves in a new way.

January Birthdays: Dixie Hargraves; Annette Owens and Kacey Leigh Pharris, the great granddaughter of Vada Carrell will be 8 years old the 3rd. Jenny Wood Huggins the 5th.

The Wood Family lit the 4th Advent candle also, the first, second and third. Sue, Woody and daughters Julie Nunn and Jenny Huggins scriptures were read and a prayer was given.

Heather LeeAnn Hopson visited her mother, Karen Hopson in Tyler just before Christmas. Juanita Hopson received a telephone call from a dear friend Alice Hancock in Slaton, near Lubbock. She had called Merlene Cowart and Polly Trinkle. Linda Lou Reynolds had mailed a copy of our new church directory to Alice's daughter Trish Aberle. They both enjoyed it very much. The directory was dedicated to honor Rob Reynolds.

Juanita had her family in for Christmas breakfast and gifts. Present were Kippy and Heather Hopson, Kris and Tish Hopson also, Ruby and Ashley Hurlburt. Trent and Cole Hopson and Todd Hopson and Blake, Tammy, Sydney, twins, Britney and Whitney Hopson, Cade and Chase Ryan Hopson.

The candle lighting service on Christmas Eve was beautiful and sacred.

Attendance was great. Many visitors came. Visitors are welcome at all of our services.
