Sheila's Potpourri
News from Huntington
Sheila Scogin

Congratulations to Bruno Barry! He was so proud of the plaque he had gotten for ten years of service at the Huntington Brookshire Brothers store. He had not decided what gift he planned to choose from an extensive list. After he had worked for a long while sacking and taking folks' groceries to the cars, he worked in produce but that was not Mr. Bruno's calling. He planned to quit but got the old job of "public relations" back. Bruno is certainly an asset: to the store with his great personality and work skills. Had several surprises of seeing people I rarely see. It is wonderful to see old acquaintances. Judy Dubose. Watson from Jasper and you'd think I could visit with her more often as close as that is. She and husband Elwin were in College, with Christal and me. She and Elwjn retired from the Jasper school district. Almost ran into Joe David Wilroy one morning and had to think about who he was. It is amazing how long it has been since I saw him. One of Joe David's classmates Ruby Fry Hatch was coming to the post office as I was exiting the building but I saw her long before she got to me. Her sweater was so colorful that it made me think of Dolly Parton's song "Coat of Many Colors". That brightened my day.

Another person .1 had not seen in years was Clovis Griffith Gilcrease. She was working in Huntington State Bank and we chatted for a long time. When she was a little girl) she was so quiet and tiny so we were the shortest two in the bank, I'm sure.

Carolyn Rhoudes Robinson and I were shopping at. the same time and she has retired from Lufkin Industries after working there many years. Her husband Marvin had a wreck on his motorcycle a while back and has not fully recovered. Others out and about and at the beauty shop were Byron and Brenda Beard, Bertie Walker, Wanda Tunnell and Bess Calhoun. Also visited with Sarah Harris who had finished her classes at. Panola Junior College for the semester. She was headed back to Carthage to work before coming home for Christmas.

We had a great time at Beamon's Sunday School Party. As always there was too much food and the game playing was mixed with laughter. Those with us were Wanda and

Joe Havard, Katrina Stone, Wanda and Buddy Dennis, John Stone, Jimmy Carnes, Joyce and. Robert Adams, Nadine Scarborugh, Paige Hooks, Kristy and Chad Games, Leslie Campbell, Connie and Thomas Brown, Karen and Mike Tillar, Gina Foley, Roger, Leslie, Randall and Colton Martin, Leslie and Kendall Lawson, Sabrina McGuire, Doyle Scott and David and Mitsy Morgan.

Hannah and Rachell Ebarb were visiting us. With us on Christmas Eve for supper and "Santa" gifts were Pat and Johnny Garrett, Leslie Campbell, Brad Reid, Jodi, Byron, Janie and Anne Morgan and Brandi, Doug, Carly, Jackson and Blaire Lankford.

Randy and Eileen drove in the rain to Atlanta, Georgia - spend Christmas with David and Patti Schmidt Smith.

No matter how much it rains, nobody gripes about it after they were so dry in that part of the country all this year.
