T.L.L. TEMPLE MEMORIAL LIBRARY
Library switching over to DVD format, VHS a thing of the past

"Nothing is certain but death and taxes." This quote by Ben Franklin is so appropriate for this time of year. Many of you have already been asking about income tax forms for 2008. Only some instructions and forms are available at this time and more are due to arrive in February. What we have available can be found just inside the front doors on the south end of the building for your convenience. A lot of the forms can be accessed on line and printed out at .20 cents per page. Come by the library anytime and our staff will be happy to help you with this.

Keeping up with new technology is not easy but we try our best. Since DVDs became available at the library about two years ago our VHS circulation has decreased significantly. Due to that fact and the lack of space for the incoming DVDs we have decided to gradually phase out our VHS collection. Over the next 12 months we will pull and discard videos until they are all gone. These discarded videos can be purchased for $1 per video, which will go toward building our new DVD collection.

For those of you interested in financial aid for students, the library has a copy of "The Counselors and Mentors Handbook on Federal Student Aid" that can only be viewed in the library. FAFSA4caster, FAFSAs early eligibility estimator, is now available at www.FederalStudentAid.ed. gov. They no longer provide paper FAFSAs to libraries and schools in bulk; instead, students may request up to three copies from 1- 800-4-FED-AID or www.edpubs.org. You may also download a PDF of the FAFSA at www.FederalStudentAid. ed.gov. Besides their English-language video, they now also have a Spanish-language program for parents and students. You may order a DVD or VHS tape at www.FSAPubs. org (in the publication list, enter "empiece" into the search box) or watch online at www.fsa4counselors.ed.gov. These are great tools to help any student get a great start.
