"Quiet Moments at the Piano," with Rosemary Swetland, performed on Temple Theater stage

Long-time area music instructor Rosemary Swetland will perform in her first public appearance at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, on the Temple Theater stage on the campus of Angelina College.
Swetland will present "Quiet Moments at the Piano", an arrangement of compositions from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary Periods, as well as traditional sacred and folk themes. Joining her will be Angelina College faculty members Charlotte Davis (vocals) and Larry Greer (flute); and Swetland's student music major, Jaime Heredia, on piano.
Ms. Swetland received her classical training both at Angelina College and Stephen F. Austin State University, where she received her BFA (1980) and MA 1984) in Music. She was also awarded the "The International Who's Who in Music" and "Personalities of the South" in 1987.
A Diboll native, Swetland became an adjunct faculty member of Angelina College's Fine Arts Division in 1997. In addition, Swetland has served as Chairman of the National Piano Guild Auditions at Angelina College since 1985, and has served on the Board of Judges for the Guild since 1987.
In addition to recording professionally, she has taught private piano lessons for 45 years, and has served as church organist for Burke United Methodist Church for 52 years. She has also served Homer United Church as a pianist for seven years.
There is no admission for the recital.
